How to install eSIM on Android

Three ways: by link (Android 10+), by QR code and manually. Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, Honor — with answers to common questions.
  • • You can install right now: the plan's validity starts only at the first network connection in the destination country.
  • • Don't delete the eSIM until the trip is over: once deleted it cannot be installed again.
  • • The phone needs internet to install: Wi-Fi or mobile data from your home SIM both work.

Method 1 · By link· fastest

Open the eSIM e-mail or the order page on the phone and tap "Install on Android". Then step by step:

  1. 1
    Tap "Install on Android"
A "Set up eSIM" dialog appears — tap "Set up", then "Add". If no dialog appeared, your Android version doesn't support installing by link: use the QR code (method 2) or manual entry (method 3).
  2. 2
    SIM name and priority screens
They don't always appear. The new eSIM is at the bottom — name it, e.g. "Turkey". For calls, SMS and data keep your home SIM (usually "SIM 1") for now: we'll switch data on arrival.
  3. 3
Settings → Connections → SIM manager
On stock Android: "Network & internet" → "SIMs". The new eSIM is last in the list. Open it, choose "Change name and icon" and give it a clear name.
  4. 4
    On arrival
In the same section pick the Simix eSIM for mobile data and turn on "Data roaming" for it. Turn data off on your home SIM.

Method 2 · QR code

The QR code is in the e-mail and on the order page. Scan it with the camera from another screen: open the e-mail on a computer or a second phone.

  1. 1
Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM
On stock Android: "Network & internet" → "SIMs" → "Add eSIM". Choose "Scan QR code".
  2. 2
Confirm the download and enable the eSIM
Then as in the link method: name it, and on arrival switch mobile data and data roaming to the eSIM.

Method 3 · Manually

The SM-DP+ address and activation code are in the e-mail and on the order page, with "Copy" buttons next to them.

  1. 1
Add eSIM → "Enter code manually"
Sometimes labelled "Don't have a QR code?". Paste the full activation code (LPA) or the SM-DP+ address and code separately.

On arrival

After installing: name the eSIM, turn on "Data roaming" for it, and on arrival pick it for mobile data. Turn off airplane mode — the phone finds a local operator on its own. Network registration takes up to a minute. If there is no network, open the eSIM settings and pick an operator manually.

Installation FAQ

Which Android phones support eSIM?
Google Pixel 3 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 to S25, Note 20, Z Fold and Z Flip, Xiaomi 12T, 13, 14 and newer, Honor 90 and Magic, Huawei P40 and newer, many Motorola and OPPO models. Quick check: dial *#06# — an EID line means eSIM is there. Some China-market models have eSIM disabled.
I tapped the link but no setup dialog appeared
Your Android version or skin doesn't support installing by link. Use the QR code from another screen or manual entry — the result is the same.
Where are the eSIM settings on Samsung, Xiaomi and Pixel?
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager. Xiaomi: Settings → SIM cards & mobile networks. Pixel and stock Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs. "Add eSIM" lives in the same section.
How do I switch to the eSIM on arrival?
In the SIM settings pick the Simix eSIM for mobile data and turn on "Data roaming" for it. Turn mobile data off on your home SIM and keep calls and SMS on it.
Can I delete the eSIM and install it again?
No. An eSIM profile is single-use: once deleted it cannot be installed again. Don't delete it until the trip is over.
