How to install an eSIM on iPhone and Android

Installation takes 2–3 minutes. You'll need Wi-Fi and the QR code from the e-mail or your account.

Method 1 · By link · fastest

Open the eSIM e-mail or the order page on the phone you're installing on and tap "Install on iPhone" or "Install on Android" — the phone will offer to add the eSIM. What happens next:

  • • You can install right now: the plan's validity starts only at the first network connection in the destination country.
  • • Don't delete the eSIM until the trip is over: once deleted it cannot be installed again.
  • • The phone needs internet to install: Wi-Fi or mobile data from your home SIM both work.

iPhone iOS 17.4 or newer

    Tap "Install on iPhone"
    A system sheet "Activate eSIM" appears — tap "Continue". If a browser page with an error opened instead, your iOS is older than 17.4: install by QR code (method 2) or manually (method 3).

    Wait for activation
    Usually a few seconds, sometimes a couple of minutes — both are fine. If it drags on, tap "Done": the iPhone continues in the background. The error "Unable to add eSIM / code no longer valid" almost always means the eSIM is already installed — move on to setup.

    "Labels" and "Default line" screens
    They don't always appear. The new eSIM is always at the bottom — name it, e.g. "Simix Turkey". For the default line, cellular data and FaceTime keep your home SIM (the top one) for now: we'll switch data on arrival.

    Settings → Cellular
    The new eSIM is the last one in the SIMs list; iPhone may have named it anything: "Travel", "Secondary". Open it and turn on "Data Roaming". The status "Activating…" for the first minutes is normal.

    Give the eSIM a clear name
    "Cellular Plan Label" → "Custom Label", e.g. "Turkey". That way you won't mix it up with your home SIM.

    On arrival
    Settings → Cellular → "Cellular Data" → pick the Simix eSIM. Keep "Allow Cellular Data Switching" off. Turn "Data Roaming" off on your home SIM in advance so you don't end up in your carrier's roaming.

Android Android 10 or newer

    Tap "Install on Android"
    A "Set up eSIM" dialog appears — tap "Set up", then "Add". If no dialog appeared, your Android version doesn't support installing by link: use the QR code (method 2) or manual entry (method 3).

    SIM name and priority screens
    They don't always appear. The new eSIM is at the bottom — name it, e.g. "Turkey". For calls, SMS and data keep your home SIM (usually "SIM 1") for now: we'll switch data on arrival.

    Settings → Connections → SIM manager
    On stock Android: "Network & internet" → "SIMs". The new eSIM is last in the list. Open it, choose "Change name and icon" and give it a clear name.

    On arrival
    In the same section pick the Simix eSIM for mobile data and turn on "Data roaming" for it. Turn data off on your home SIM.

Methods 2 and 3 · QR code and manual entry

iPhone / iPad

  1. 1Open the e-mail with the eSIM on your iPhone and tap “Install on iPhone in one tap” (iOS 17.4 and newer) — or go to step 2.
  2. 2Open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code and scan the code from another screen.
  3. 3Tap Continue and wait for activation (up to 1 minute). Name the plan, e.g. “Simix Turkey”.
  4. 4Under Cellular Data select the Simix eSIM; keep your main SIM for calls and SMS.
  5. 5Enable Data Roaming only for the Simix eSIM. Turn off mobile data on your main SIM to avoid operator roaming.

Android

  1. 1Open Settings → Connections (or Network & internet) → SIM cards → Add eSIM.
  2. 2Choose Scan QR code and point the camera at the code from the e-mail or your account. No second screen? Choose Enter manually and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
  3. 3Confirm the profile download and enable the eSIM.
  4. 4In SIM settings select the Simix eSIM for mobile data and enable data roaming for it.
  5. 5Keep your main SIM for calls and turn off its mobile data.

On arrival

Turn off airplane mode — the phone finds a local operator on its own. Network registration takes up to a minute. If there is no network, open the eSIM settings and pick an operator manually.
